Lessons Learned from Ramadan: Patience
Ramadan teaches us compassion, gratitude, a chance to self-reflect, and be better human beings. But among other things, Ramadan fosters immense patience in us. By fasting from sunrise to sunset, and dedicating extra hours to prayer and worship, we learn the meaning of self-discipline.
The ability to get through our day without food and water. The commitment to guard our words, despite being provoked. The ability to remain steadfast and calm when reacting to situations or dealing with children. This essential quality that’s honed into us during Ramadan, can help us immensely as we maneuver our way through life.
By refining this important trait, we can become better decision makers, cultivate stronger relationships, and be more productive and resilient humans.
Below are 6 quotes from the Quran and the Hadith about patience.
- "And be patient, for indeed, Allah does not allow to be lost the reward of those who do good." (Quran 11:115)
2."Indeed, Allah is with the patient." (Quran 8:46)
3."And seek help through patience and prayer, and indeed, it is difficult except for the humbly submissive [to Allah]." (Quran 2:45)
4."The best of people are those who are slow to anger and swift to cool down." (Hadith - Tirmidhi)
5. "No one can be given a blessing better and greater than patience." (Hadith - Bukhari)
6. "How wonderful is the affair of the believer, for his affairs are all good, and this applies to no one but the believer. If something good happens to him, he is thankful for it and that is good for him. If something bad happens to him, he bears it with patience, and that is good for him." (Hadith - Muslim)
May Allah (swt) guide and help us become the best versions of ourselves, Insha’Allah.
