You’ll travel to Bamako, the capital of Mali, and visit surrounding villages where you’ll experience the life-changing impact of our sustainable development initiatives.

Experiences During This Trip
As part of the Volunteer in Africa 2025 program, you’ll have the opportunity to visit our model villages to see long-term sustainable development projects. You’ll spend time with orphans at the Muslim Hands School of Excellence, a nurturing environment that provides quality education and care. You'll also witness how our clean water projects are transforming entire communities by providing safe, reliable access to water. In addition, you’ll explore livelihood initiatives that empower locals with the tools and training needed to build sustainable futures.

About Mali
Mali is a country in West Africa, known for its rich cultural heritage and history. Once home to the legendary Mali empire and the historic city of Timbuktu, a flourishing hub of Islamic learning and trade. Today, however, many regions in Mali face severe challenges, such as water scarcity, food insecurity, and limited access to resources. Prolonged droughts, economic hardship, and conflict have left countless families in need of urgent humanitarian assistance.
Key Statistics
- Approximately 1.26 million Malians were food insecure.
- Around 8.8 million people (34% of the population) required humanitarian assistance.
- Mali ranked 186th of 191 countries on the Human Development Index.
- There were around 391,961 internally displaced people, over half of whom are children.
- About 41% of children in Mali lived in multidimensional poverty, facing overlapping deprivations such as health, education, and living standards.

What is the Cost of the Trip?
The trip costs $5,000, including airfare, accommodations, meals, in-county transportation, and logistics. To secure your spot, a non-refundable holding deposit of $250 is required at registration.
Who is Eligible to Participate?
You must be over 18 years of age, in good health, and passionate about making a difference. Applicants must also attend mandatory training, complete all registration steps, have a valid passport (must be valid for at least 10 months from October 2025), receive a yellow fever vaccination, and agree to the program’s terms and conditions.
