Update: The Ongoing Humanitarian Crises in Gaza and Yemen

Hassan Amarsi

What’s happening in Gaza and Yemen is not just a regional issue, it's a test of our shared humanity. Millions of innocent lives are caught in these unfolding catastrophes. The people of Gaza and Yemen require compassion and unwavering solidarity. We are actively responding by delivering life-saving aid and support to those who need it most.

Gaza
In Gaza, the blockade has tightened during repeated cycles of bombardment. According to the United Nations (UN), Gaza's 2.2 million residents are left with nowhere to go. Hospitals are overwhelmed, resources such as food, water, and fuel are scarce, and entire neighborhoods have been reduced to rubble. Over half of Gaza’s population are children, with no schools to attend or food to eat – they are helpless and long for a childhood filled with joy.

The destruction in Gaza is not just physical. It’s psychological and systemic.

Yemen
More than 10 years into one of the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, life in Yemen remains almost unbearable. Millions of Yemenis do not have access to basic necessities like food, clean water, healthcare, and education. The UN reports that over 24 million people in Yemen need assistance and protection, accounting for 73% of the country’s population. Malnutrition is widespread, disease outbreaks are rampant, and access to healthcare remains limited.

Behind every Yemeni statistic is a face, a name, a family. One that needs our support more than ever.

Muslim Hands Canada in Emergency Zones
Despite major barriers to accessible aid in Gaza, we have partnered with the World Food Programme (WFP) to deliver life-saving relief. We are delivering wheat, flour, and ready-to-eat food. The WFP and Muslim Hands Canada remain cautious as we increase hot meal and bread distributions. We continue to monitor the situation closely.

To address urgent needs in Gaza, support the following initiatives:

Despite challenges, we remain committed to uplifting vulnerable communities across the country.
