What is a Borehole?

A borehole is a deep, narrow hole drilled into the ground to reach clean water trapped in underground layers called aquifers.  A solar-powered deep borehole features three taps, two solar panels with a battery, one solar pump, one converter, one charge controller, a metal tower, and two 2,500-liter water tanks. The borehole can be drilled to a depth of 35 meters, providing a long-term solution for the community’s water needs.

A borehole can serve thousands of people daily and is installed in areas with limited access to water, ensuring clean drinking water is available for decades. It reduces disease, saves time, and supports education.

Unlike surface water, this water is protected from contamination. It can be pumped out and used for drinking, washing, farming, and daily needs.

Providing Water is a form of Sadaqah Jariyah?

For Muslims, donating water is a powerful act of Sadaqah Jariyah, a charity that continues to benefit others long after we’re gone.

"When a person dies, all their deeds end except three: a continuing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah), beneficial knowledge, or a child who prays for them" (Muslim, 1631).
