From Student to Teacher: Aroosa Kawal’s Journey of Giving Back
Every morning, Aroosa Kawal walks through the gates of the Muslim Hands School of Excellence in Wazirabad — the same gates she once rushed through as a schoolgirl, with dreams bigger than her small frame could hold.
Today, she’s no longer a student. She’s a teacher.
“It was my dream to become a teacher here,” she says, smiling. She teaches English for grades six through eight, inspiring the next generation of learners.
But her journey didn’t happen overnight.
Aroosa grew up in a community where there weren’t many opportunities for children, especially girls. According to UNICEF, approximately 22.8 million children aged 5-16 are not attending school in Pakistan. In terms of gender, boys outnumber girls.
But within the School of Excellence, Aroosa found a space where she was seen, challenged, and believed in. Teachers didn’t just teach; they mentored. They noticed her determination, nurtured it, and helped her see a future.
Her presence in the classroom is more than a personal achievement — it’s an example of what’s possible when someone invests in you.
