Our Work in Yemen: Providing Life-Saving Care to Vulnerable Communities

Muslim Hands

Situation Update

Years of conflict have destroyed Yemen, with catastrophic effects on its people. According to the UN, over 18.2 million people in Yemen require humanitarian assistance.

Since the outbreak of the civil war in 2014, the hunger crisis has become worse. Over 17 million people across the country are food insecure, and more than a million children under the age of five are suffering from severe malnutrition.

For countless families, daily life has become a fight for survival. Muslim Hands teams are working across Yemen, distributing fresh bread, restoring damaged water wells, and provding medical relief to Yemen’s most vulnerable.

A Childhood Stolen by Hunger

Children are bearing the brunt of the crisis in Yemen. More than a million children under five suffer from severe malnutrition, a condition that threatens their growth, health, and future.

Muslim Hands Medical Clinic

Read 14-month-old Muhammad’s story. When his parents brought him into the Muslim Hands Medical Clinic in Yemen, he was suffering from extreme malnutrition. A swollen belly, protruding ribs, and pale sunken eyes. But with intervention from a dedicated team of medical professionals, swift treatment, nutritional support, and counselling services for parents, Mohammad is now a healthy baby.

The Muslim Hands Medical Clinic in Yemen delivers healthcare to Yemenis who face financial hardships, and those living in remote areas where care is not available.

Medical professionals diagnose, treat, and manage a range of health conditions—ensuring early detection and timely care. In addition to treatment, the clinic provides health education, empowering parents like Mohammad’s to make informed decisions.

Yemen Bread Factory

Our bread factories are a source of sustenance for vulnerable Yemenis. In 2025, we provided three million loaves of bread, prioritizing women, children and people with disabilities.

Read Mohammed Saeed Nasser's story, a polio patient and a father who is paralyzed from his waist down.

The Muslim Hands Bread factory has been a lifeline for Mohammad. Because of the generosity of donors like you, Mohammed’s family has access to free bread, ensuring they have enough food.

Well Rehabilitation

Being one of the most water-scarce countries in the world, the destruction to Yemen’s infrastructure has left 20.5 million people without access to safe water and sanitation. The water crisis has led to cholera outbreaks and increased malnutrition. Unfortunately, children are bearing the brunt of this crisis.
