Bangladesh Floods: Scores of families affected by widespread flooding
The recent floods in Bangladesh have severely affected Jannatul Ferdaus and her family in the Noakhali district in Bangladesh.
The family's life was already challenging due to Jannatul’s health issues, including back problems and heart disease.
They didn’t evacuate their home since it is on higher ground, hoping the floodwaters wouldn’t rise much more. When the floodwaters did rise, Jannatul and her husband sold their goats hoping additional funds would help them get by. At first, they cooked with whatever little they had, but as days passed by, their supplies ran out. Now, they rely entirely on aid.
It’s been more than ten days since the floodwaters have surrounded their home. The family uses contaminated water from their tube well, which is unsafe to drink.
Muslim Hands was the first organization to help them with food and water.
