Be the Change this Ramadan

''The best charity is that given in Ramadan." (Tirmidhi)

Ramadan is a month of fasting, prayer, and reflection.

As privileged Muslims, we must consider it our duty to help our brothers and sisters in times of hardship.

Your Sadaqah and Zakat enable us to serve underprivileged communities, both locally and internationally, lifting them out of poverty and paving the way for a brighter future.

Over the years, your kindness has provided life-saving aid such as emergency relief, clean water, sanitation, and hygiene projects, orphan care, healthcare, education, and sustainable development
programs.

You have allowed us to support millions of people in some of the most vulnerable communities since Muslim Hands Canada’s inception.

This Ramadan, we seek your continued support to help expand our efforts in 2025, In sha Allah.

You can sponsor orphans, provide hot meals to the people of Gaza, offer livelihood support, build wells in water-deprived communities, feed iftar and suhoor meals, and donate food parcels to communities in need.

In 2024, your generosity transformed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people across countries in Palestine, Yemen, Mali, Pakistan, Somalia, Niger, Türkiye, Senegal, and The Gambia.

There are so many ways to make a difference. And there is no better time to make an impact than in Ramadan, when your good deeds are multiplied.

Together, we can offer comfort and rekindle hope for those enduring conflict, environmental crises, and poverty.

Be the change this Ramadan.

Give Suhoor and Iftar Meals

Muslims begin their fast at sunrise after eating a pre-dawn meal (referred to as suhoor) before the morning prayers (Fajr). The fast is broken at sundown with a meal (referred to as iftar), which is eaten after the evening prayer (Maghrib).

This Ramadan, thousands of Muslim families around the world struggle with food insecurity and lack the resources to prepare meals for suhoor and iftar.

Muslim Hands works closely with global communities to deliver hot and nutritious meals, along with food packs that contain essential staple foods for suhoor and iftar.

What to Do If You Can't Fast?

For those who are unable to fast during the month of Ramadan, a payment referred to as Fidyah is made and is allocated towards helping the poor. This compensation roughly equates to providing two meals per day for every missed fast.

For individuals who deliberately break or miss a fast during the month of Ramadan and are unable to make up for it by fasting for 60 consecutive days, a payment called Kaffarah is required. This payment provides one meal each for 60 needy people.

Give your Zakat with Confidence

Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam. It is obligatory charity for all eligible Muslims. It is a form of spiritual purification and wealth redistribution and is calculated at a rate of 2.5% of an individual’s annual savings and wealth, this is known as Nisab.

Muslim Hands has been distributing your Zakat for over 30 years with utmost care and precision as we believe that Zakat is a sacred responsibility (Amanah). Muslim Hands Canada uses your Zakat towards initiatives that focus on improving access to education, healthcare, food, and water for underdeveloped communities globally.

Zakat al-Fitr

During the month of Ramadan, Muslims are required to pay Zakat al-Fitr, which is a form of Zakat that serves to self-purify and give back to the poor.

Zakat al-Fitr is paid before Eid al-Fitr, to ensure that the needy have the means to partake in Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

Zakat al-Fitr can be paid to Muslim Hands Canada at $10 per household member.

Give the Gift of Water

Over 2 billion people worldwide lack access to safe drinking water, making the water crisis one of the most pressing global challenges, particularly in remote and impoverished communities.
In Islam, providing water is considered one of the most virtuous acts of charity.

Muslim Hands Canada addresses this urgent need through a variety of water projects, including Tube Wells, Dig-a-Wells, Community Wells, Boreholes, Water Filtration Plants and many more.
Every time a well is built, donors receive a personalized feedback report with photos, details about the community served, and the impact of their contribution, ensuring their act of charity leaves a meaningful and lasting legacy.

Sponsor an Orphan

Every child deserves a safe and loving home, but millions of children around the world are orphaned due to war, poverty, and hardship, leaving them without necessities like food, water, and shelter.

Your donations have allowed us to support hundreds of orphans through the years, providing them with education, nutrition, transportation, and welfare.

Muslim Hands’ one-to-one orphan sponsorship program allows you to provide a needy child with access to education, vital health services, nutritious meals, and ongoing security and support.

This Ramadan, follow the example of the Prophet (saw) and begin your sponsorship journey.
Ensure orphans have the stability, protection, and care
they need to build a brighter, more secure future.
