Dua for Good Health
Shifa from Allah (swt): Du’as for Good Health
Good health is one of the greatest blessings from Allah (swt). Through dua, we ask Him to protect our bodies, strengthen our hearts, and grant healing during illness. The Prophet Muhammad (saw) regularly made du’a for well-being and taught us to turn to Allah (swt) alongside taking practical steps for care and treatment.
Dua for health is not only about recovery. It is also about gratitude, patience, and trusting Allah (swt) through every stage of life.
A Dua for Ongoing Wellbeing
This dua asks Allah (swt) to protect our body and senses, reminding us that health is a trust from Him.
اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِي فِي بَدَنِي اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِي فِي سَمْعِي اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِي فِي بَصَرِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ Transliteration: Allahumma ‘aafinee fee badanee, Allahumma ‘aafinee fee sam‘ee, Allahumma ‘aafinee fee basaree, laa ilaaha illa anta Translation: O Allah (swt), grant me health in my body. O Allah (swt), protect my hearing. O Allah (swt), protect my sight. There is no one worthy of worship except You
Dua for Healing and Shifa
The Prophet Muhammad (saw) would make this dua for those who were unwell, placing full trust in Allah (swt) as the true Healer.
اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ النَّاسِ أَذْهِبِ الْبَأْسَ وَاشْفِ أَنْتَ الشَّافِي لَا شِفَاءَ إِلَّا شِفَاؤُكَ Transliteration: Allahumma Rabban-naas adhhib il-ba’sa washfi anta ash-shaafi laa shifaa’a illa shifaa’uk Translation: O Allah (swt), Lord of mankind, remove the harm and grant healing. You are the Healer. There is no healing except Your healing
Dua for Protection Through the Qur’an
Reciting Surah Al-Fatihah and the last three surahs of the Qur’an is a Sunnah practice for protection and healing. The Prophet Muhammad (saw) would recite them and blow gently over himself and others when unwell, seeking Allah’s (swt) care and mercy.
Dua When Visiting the Sick
When visiting someone who is ill, the Prophet Muhammad (saw) taught us to offer words of comfort and hope.
لَا بَأْسَ طَهُورٌ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ Transliteration: Laa ba’sa tahoorun in shaa Allah Translation: No harm. It is a purification, if Allah (swt) wills
Healing in Allah’s (swt) Hands
Alongside dua, Islam encourages seeking treatment, caring for one another, and using the means Allah (swt) has provided. Dua strengthens the heart while action supports the body.
As we ask Allah (swt) for health and healing, giving sadaqah is a powerful act of compassion that invites mercy and barakah, so consider supporting Muslim Hands Canada and turning gratitude into care for others. You can also support our Health Appeal, which provides cataract care, mobility aids, and essential support for new and expectant mothers.
May Allah (swt) grant us lasting health, patience during illness, and complete healing for all those who are unwell. Ameen.
