5 Du'as for Mental Health

In times of hardship and uncertainty, the mental and emotional well-being of many people can be deeply affected. Anxiety, fear, isolation, and emotional strain often increase during difficult periods, leaving many searching for comfort and reassurance.

Islam teaches us that Allah (swt ) is Al-Shaafi, the source of all cures, and any difficulty that we experience comes directly from Him, as does any cure. Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Prophet (saw) said:

“There is no disease that Allah (saw) has created, except that He also has created its remedy.” [Bukhari]

As Muslims, we have been blessed with powerful and effective Duas that can relieve our stress and anxiety and draw us closer to Allah (swt). Here are five short, but impactful Duas that you can recite daily to keep you calm and find comfort during these testing times:

1. Dua for patience

La ilaha ila enta subhanaka iny kuntu minal zalameen.

“There is no deity but You. Glory be to You! Verily, I have been among the wrongdoers.” (Quran)

2. Dua to safeguard from anxiety and depression

Allahumma inni a’udhu bika minal-hammi wal-Ḥuzni wal-’ajazi wal-kasli wal-bukhli wal-jubni wa ḍala’id-dayni wa ghalabatir-rijal.

“O Allah, I take refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, weakness and laziness, miserliness and cowardice, the burden of debts and from being overpowered by men.” (Al-Bukhari)

3. Dua to alleviate family, health, or wealth worries

Ya hayyu ya qayyum birahmatika astaghees

“O Living and Eternal Maintainer! By Your mercy, I seek help!” (Sunan Tirmidhi)

4. Dua to help find a solution to tackle problems

O Allah, I hope for Your mercy. Do not leave me to myself even for a blink of an eye. Correct all of my affairs for me. There is none worthy of worship except You.

5. Dua to remove debt-related stress

Allaahummakfinee bihalaalika ’an haraamika wa ’aghninee bifadhlika ’amman siwaaka.

“O Allah, suffice me with what You have allowed instead of what You have forbidden, and make me independent of all others besides You.” (Tirmidhi).
