2026: The Ongoing Humanitarian Crises in Gaza and Yemen | Muslim Hands Canada

Update 2026:

The Ongoing Humanitarian Crises in Gaza and Yemen

What is happening in Gaza and Yemen is not just a regional tragedy - it is a test of our shared humanity. Millions of innocent lives remain caught in prolonged humanitarian catastrophes, and the need for urgent support continues into 2026. Muslim Hands Canada remains committed to delivering life-saving aid and support to those who need it most.

Gaza

In Gaza, the humanitarian situation remains extremely fragile even after the ceasefire that began in late 2025. Vast numbers of families are still displaced, infrastructure has been devastated, and access to food, clean water, fuel, and medical care remains precarious. Humanitarian agencies report that significant assistance flows have been delivered, including hundreds of thousands of tonnes of aid, but needs still far outpace available resources. Most people in the Strip continue to live in poorly equipped shelters, with ongoing vulnerability to harsh weather and limited services.

Across the Gaza Strip, more than 1.3 million people are estimated to be displaced and staying in temporary, informal sites, largely reliant on humanitarian support for basic survival.

The psychological and systemic impacts of years of conflict and blockade are profound, especially for children. Gaza’s education system has faced repeated setbacks due to the destruction of school buildings and the disruption of learning.

Yemen

Yemen’s humanitarian crisis remains one of the worst in the world in 2026. According to the United Nations and partner agencies, an estimated 21 million people - a large majority of the population - will need humanitarian assistance this year, up from about 19.5 million the previous year.

The situation is driven by prolonged conflict, economic collapse, deterioration of basic services, and severe food insecurity. Millions of Yemenis lack reliable access to adequate food, clean water, healthcare, and education, while malnutrition levels remain dangerously high.

These statistics represent real families and communities whose daily lives are marked by hardship and uncertainty.

Muslim Hands Canada in Emergency Zones

Despite major barriers to accessible aid in Gaza, Muslim Hands Canada has partnered with trusted humanitarian organizations to deliver life-saving relief. Through collaborations including the World Food Programme (WFP), we are distributing wheat, flour, and ready-to-eat food to vulnerable families. Wherever possible, we are scaling up hot meal and bread distributions, while carefully monitoring security and access conditions.
