At Muslim Hands, we take our responsibility of giving your Qurbani very seriously. We make sure to follow the Sunnah of the Prophet (saw) in every step of the Qurbani journey, so that your sacrifice is 100% valid and benefits as many poor and needy families as possible.
Here are seven reasons why you should give your Qurbani with Muslim Hands:
1. You get to choose your location
You can choose to offer your Qurbani in a location of your choice, be it in developing countries like Rwanda, Malawi or Niger, or even in emergency zones like Kashmir (India) or holy sites like Jerusalem. We also have our ‘Where Most Needed’ option where our experts on the ground will decide which location your sacrifice is needed most.
2. Your Qurbani will help tackle world hunger.
Our teams work closely with community leaders to identify families that are suffering from extreme poverty and who are most in need of meat. Through your Qurbani, 42-year old Yusufa Saho was able to feed his family of 2 wives and 10 children aged between 14 and 9 months in the Giboro Kuta village in Gambia. The family celebrated Eid by enjoying a nutritious meat-filled meal, a novelty they do not experience often.
On ordinary days, it costs Yusufa at least 3 months’ salary to buy meat and so his family resorts to buying a 50kg bag of rice a month, which they eat for lunch and dinner, including Eid. On a rare occasion, Yusufa takes home a piece of rotten fruit or vegetable to add to their meal of rice.
3. Your Qurbani is stun free
Every animal is sacrificed according to traditional Sunnah methods of slaughter, guaranteeing that your Qurbani is Sharia compliant and valid. We do not stun any of our animals.
4. Your Qurbani meat is fresh, not frozen, or tinned
All our Qurbani meat is fresh, and we do not distribute any frozen or tinned meat. Not only is fresh meat healthier and more filling, but for people like Yusufa and his family who only eat meat on rare occasions, fresh meat is a delight which they are overjoyed to receive. His wives Aja and Mariam prepare a special dish called Benechin with the fresh meat on Eid, a local delicacy in Gambia.
5. Your Qurbani is made after Eid Salah
At Muslim Hands, we ensure that your Qurbani sacrifice is made after Eid Salah, following the Sunnah of the Prophet (saw), as verified in the following hadith:
‘Whoever offers a sacrifice after the prayer has completed his rituals (of Eid) and has followed the way of the Muslims.’ (Bukhari).
This means families like Yusufa’s can enjoy the joyous days of Eid with their loved ones with a home-cooked, protein packed meal. Seeing two large platters filled with Benechin made Yusufa’s children so excited for Eid that they even changed into new clothes for the occasion. The fresh Qurbani meat distributed by Muslim Hands even allowed Yusufa to share with his neighbours.
“It is rare that we would even experience Eid like this, with so much food,” said Yusufa. “We have never been able to do this before and would not be able to without the support of the donors through Muslim Hands”.
6. Provides invaluable support to local farmers
By utilizing local farmers in every location, not only are we able to feed poor families in the regions like Yusufa’s, but also support the livelihoods and sustain an income of local farmers, animal herders and caretakers. This creates and maintains jobs in the weeks leading up to Eid al-Adha and is especially important now, as so many farming communities have been hit by the Coronavirus pandemic globally and need our support.
7. You can do more than one.
At Muslim Hands, we encourage all our donors to give an extra Qurbani and sacrifice for the suffering around the world and with prices starting from as little as R950, it is easy affordable to do so.
This second is known as a Prophetic Qurbani as it follows the Sunnah practices of our beloved Prophet (saw). During the days of Eid al-Adha, the Prophet (saw) would not only perform an obligatory sacrifice for himself, but he would also offer a second Qurbani on behalf of those in his Ummah who could not afford to.
‘The Prophet (saw) sacrificed for the one who could not sacrifice from his Ummah, one who bore witness to the Oneness of Allah and [his] Prophethood’. [Tabarani & Ahmad].
These seven points are what make Qurbani with Muslim Hands so special. Not only does your Qurbani feed poor families, but it also supports local farmers and helps create employment in local villages and communities. And if you give a second Prophetic Qurbani, then even more people can benefit. Donate your Qurbani today with Muslim Hands and earn the pleasure of Allah (swt).
